The Prize
In addition to the benefits of reaching out to the global audience as a featured LINE Webtoon artist, the winners of the Challenge League will receive:
Grand Prize - $30,000
2nd Place(one winner) - $10,000
3rd Place(two winners) - $5,000(per each)
+ An opportunity to become a featured LINE Webtoon artist
- The additional taxes and the public utility fees must be paid by the winners.
SPECIAL - University donation - If the Grand Prize winner is enrolled in a post-secondary school or university (“School”) at the time of entry, the school will receive an additional donation!
How to Enter
Submit your work to the Challenge League during the contest period (No separate entry is needed).
There are no specified rules on the theme and format of your work, but all entries need to be in English.

Eligibility and Submission Requirements
You must be at least 14 years old to participate in the contest.
All the submissions must be previously unpublished and not found online.
(Submissions previously published on your own microsites are accepted).
You can either be a single author or a group of authors, and there is no limit to the number of works you may submit.
No obscene, vulgar, offensive, profane or overly graphic submissions are permitted.

Judgment Criteria
LINE Webtoon judges would select the winners based on the judging criteria below.
- Audience engagement - View counts, number of shares and etc.
- Other judging criteria - artistry, creativity, originality and the (artists') ability to publish their comics on a weekly basis.

The 1st LINE WEBTOON Challenge League Contest Official Rules
The LINE Webtoon Challenge League is an open platform where cartoonists can publish their web cartoons. To celebrate the launch of the Challenge League, we are holding the first LINE Webtoon Contest to find amazing talented cartoonists who want the opportunity to build a fan base and to be featured as a webtoon artist for LINE Webtoon.
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. A PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING.
1. SPONSOR
The Sponsor is NAVER Corp., NAVER Green Factory, 178-1 Jeongja-dong, Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si, Gyeongg-do, Korea. (“NAVER”).
2. TERM
The 1st LINE WEBTOON Challenge League Contest (the “Contest”) begins at 02:00 am (East Standard Time) on November 19, 2014 and ends at 11:59:59 pm (East Standard Time) on January 25, 2015. (“Promotion Period”) All entries must be received by January 25, 2015 at 11:59 pm EST. Information on how to enter and prizes is included in these official Rules (“Official Rules”). By submitting an entry, the entrant (“You”) agree to the Official Rules and warrant that Your entry complies with all requirements set out in the Official Rules.
3. ENTRY ELIGIBILITY
• You must be at least 14 years old as of November 19, 2014 to be eligible to enter the Contest and may reside anywhere in the world. If you are minor, you must have permission from a parent’s or legal guardian to enter the Contest. If selected as a winner, you will be required to provide your parent or legal guardian’s written consent to Your participation, and if You fail to provide such written consent within three business days of the request then you will be disqualified and Your prize will be withdrawn.
• You can either be a single author or a group of authors, and there is no limit to the number of works you may submit.
4. HOW TO ENTER
• Just submit your cartoon episodes to the Challenge League on LINE’s Webtoon service [www.webtoons.com/challenge/publish] at any time during the contest period. To enter, please go to [www.webtoons.com/challenge/publish] and follow the step-by-step directions on that page.
• All entries must be submitted in digital format through our online uploading process. Only online entries will be accepted. No hard copies of entries will be accepted for judging.
• Your entry must comply with the following requirements (the “Entry Requirements”).
- All submissions must be previously unpublished and not posted online. Submissions previously published on your own microsites are accepted.
- You may enter as many cartoon episodes as You like, however duplicate entries are not allowed.
- You must submit a minimum of five cartoon episodes. You decide the length of each episode and when to submit each episode during the contest period.
- There is no regional restriction for submissions, but all episode content must be submitted in English.
- The cartoon image must be less than 800px wide and 1280px long. (JPG only)
- You can upload up to 20MB in total. Each file can be up to 2MB.
- The cartoon must be your original work and may not use stock materials from others; may not contain depictions of characters, symbols, titles, names, brand names, slogans or logos of any third party; may not be inappropriate, offensive, libelous or defamatory, pornographic, sexually explicit, unlawful or plagiarized, as determined by the NAVER in its sole discretion; must not be harassing, abusive, threatening, harmful, vulgar, profane, obscene, excessively violent, racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable or offensive in any way, as determined by NAVER in its sole discretion; may not violate or encourage others to violate any applicable law, statute, ordinance or regulation; may not defame or invade publicity rights or privacy of any person, living or deceased, or otherwise infringe upon any person's personal or property rights or any other third party rights, or involve physical harm to any person or animal; may not include any viruses, worms, corrupt files, Trojan horses, or other forms of corruptive code or content that may harm or compromise the Contest Site and/or the proper conduct of the Contest.

• NAVER reserves the right, at any time, to verify the validity of entries and to disqualify any entrant who submits an entry that is not in accordance with this Official Rules or who tampers with the entry process. Failure by NAVER to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights.
5. YOUR RIGHTS, OBLIGATIONS AND WARRANTIES
• Copyright
- You retain the copyright in your submission.
- For ten (10) years after your submissions, You acknowledge and agree that (i) your submissions will be posted on the LINE Webtoon service at NAVER’S discretion; (ii) you have the right and authority to, and do hereby, grant to NAVER a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free and sub-licensable (through multiple tiers), right, in any media existing now or in the 10 yearsfuture, to use, copy, reproduce, distribute, publicly display, publicly perform, edit, modify, adapt, translate and exploit their submissions, and to prepare derivative works based on their submissions for the service of NAVER and its subsidiaries and affiliates or for the service of the third party licensed by NAVER.
• You warrant and agree that
- You will not submit any material that violates the Entry Requirements and Challenge League Uploading Policy.
- The Work submitted is your original artistic work and does not infringe the copyright or other proprietary rights of any third party. If the entry or any part of the information provided by You in relation to the entry includes a depiction of a natural person, You warrant that You have obtained permission from that individual to use his or her likeness as used for all purposes of this Contest. You agree to indemnify NAVER against all claims and costs by any third party arising from a breach of the warranty.
6. SELECTION OF WINNERS
• This is a skill-based contest and chance plays no part in the determination of winners.
• The LINE Webtoon Challenge will be judged by (1) a panel made up of NAVER employees and (2) Webtoon viewers (members of the public). The panel’s decision will be given 90% weight and the viewers’ votes will be given 10% weight in the judging process.
• The decision by the panel of judges will be announced on the Challenge League website following the conclusion of the contest. Judges will judge submissions as a whole (i.e., all five or more episodes submitted) based on the following criteria:
- artistry;
- creativity;
- originality; and
- the (artists') ability to publish their comics on a weekly basis.
• The judges’ decisions on all criteria will be final.
• Viewers’ ratings will be available on the Challenge League website throughout the contest. Viewers’ ratings will be computed based on the following:
- view count for the episode; and
- links shared for an episode.
