Career Development
There have been many studies that have attempted to measure the effects of
career interventions on students’ career development, however career education in
general has had small to moderate effects on a variety of outcome measures. A
meta-analytic review by Baker & Taylor (1998) resulted in a mean effect size was
equal to .34. The meta-analysis completed by Evans and Burck (1992) found that
career education, in general, has minimal effects on academic achievement as
measured by GPA. The mean effect size in this analysis was equal to .16, though
career education has slightly larger effects on academic achievement for younger
students, for average ability students, and when integrated into English or Math
lessons.
