The average daily milk yield during the experiment was
11.8 kg energy correctedmilk (ECM). Bothmean dailymilk and
ECMyield were significantly (Pb0.05) higher when cows were
fed SBM concentrate compared with the other treatments
(Table 4). However, there was no significant difference in milk
composition between treatments and, in average, the milk
contained 34.9 g kg−1 fat, 34.5 g kg−1 protein, 126.1 g kg−1
total solids and 27.4 g kg−1 DM casein. The hypothesis that
MLM would influence the organoleptic characteristics of the
milk proved to be wrong: the colour, smell and taste of milk
from all treatments were classified as normal.
