It is not uncommon that senior secondary school students score poorly in SSCE Economics. They are often assessed
with poorly prepared Achievement Tests. The content areas of their tests in Economics are not spread out to cover
the content of Economics curriculum. Consequently, such tests limit students’ scope of reading and this leads to poor
achievement in Economics. Students’ good achievement in Economics at SSCE will depend to a large extent,
coverage of the Economics curriculum as well as the use of valid and reliable Economics Achievement Tests to
assess them.
