Studies of the occupational radiation dose in interventional radiology have focused
mainly on the physician. There are limited data on the exposure of other medical staff
(such as nurses and radiologic technologists). Furthermore, although interventional radiology physicians currently wear two radiation monitors, one under the lead apron at waist level and one outside the lead shield at the collar, most interventional radiology nurses use a single dosimeter under the apron. Therefore,
this study describes the occupational radiation dose for interventional radiology staff, especially nurses, to clarify the present annual dose level for interventional radiology nurses.
