The entire operon for violacein biosynthesis consists of vioD, vioC, vioB and vioA genes [18,19]. However, there have been few publications reporting on the bioprocess of violacein production by bacterial cultivation [12,13]. Tryptophan appears to be the only precursor molecule in violacein biosynthesis. Its production is apparently essential for pigment production in C. violaceum.Violaceinbiosynthesisisalsodependentonthemetabolism of carbohydrates. However, the metabolic pathway of violacein biosynthesis is not very clear yet. Violacein production has been shown to be favorable under low temperature [12]. It is thus of interest to isolate psychrotrophic bacteria capable of effectively producing blue pigment and study the fermentation technique
[18].
