Certain biomolecules are known to be associated with the plant
defence mechanism: papaya cystatin; class II chitinase (28 kDa),
which has the ability to degrade the cell wall of certain pathogenic
fungi, and is important in plant metabolic functions such as early
somatic embryonic development [35]; serin protease inhibitors;
and b 1,3-endoglucanase [31,34]
