Consumer wants and needs are carefully identified by today's businesses as a basis for developing new products. The consumer has been led to believe that there is a product to fill almost every need. Customers are demanding and getting more and better products today to fill there needs. Markets are becoming broader in scope and yet more functionally specialized in the goods and services offered. For an increasing number of companies, markets are international and even worldwide. As a result businesses must be highly flexible and able to change direction rapidly.
