The astronomical azimuth ΑΒ Α of a line AB, defined between two points on the
earth’s surface, may be determined by measuring the horizontal angle between the
given direction and the vertical plane of a celestial body and applying this angle to the
astronomical azimuth of the celestial body. The following method is the most
convenient for determining astronomical azimuths of stars for geodetic purposes, as
the best precision will be achieved.
