In the United States, the last NHANES (National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey) found that 26% of non-pregnant women between 20 and 39 years were overweight and 29% were obese from 1999 to 2002 [2]. In Australia, approximately 15% of women between 25 and 34 years were obese between 2004 and 2005 [3], a lower percentage when compared to the United Kingdom, where reports of 32% of overweight and 20% of obesity were found among women from 16 to 64 years [4]. Almost 40% of married women were obese in the United Arab Emirates [5]; in Denmark, the percentage of obese women grew from 3.1 to 7.8% in a ten-year analysis [6].
