I think this is the most likely scenario. I doubt Kidd is ready to fight Kaido on even terms, but Kaido looks ready to pick a fight with whoever happens to be in front of him. The situation needs to be defused without Kidd getting demolished.

Kaido looks at Kidd's alliance and understands they're not a threat, then randomly finds a journal about what happened on Dressrosa, is surprised to see Garp's grandson actions and wants to fight him.
Return to Sanji's group that are still searching for that strange girl when suddenly arrives a call from Nico Robin, Sanji is obviously delighted.
Big Mom is fully revealed and is shouting to her crew because they let Sanji and CC escape, the box from Luffy with the treasure arrives but when she opens it explodes on her face. Chapter ends with Big Mom shouting: "DAMN YOU MONKEY. D. LUFFYYYYYYYYYY".

I think they would take a ride with someone ship (Bartho, Happo). Without skilled navigators (Nami, Bepo), there's no way they could travel in the new world by themselve with a random stolen ship. Yeah they have log poses and vivre cards, but what about evading all the crazy stuffes happening in the new world. Remember when they were almost got caught in a tornado when Nami was sick?
