Smallroom
Smallroom started out as a small indie record label, however they have now expanded to include a huge roster of popular and distinctive artists. The label’s latest release, A Room on the Hill, is a compilation album featuring 13 songs from various Smallroom performers.
All the songs featured have been rearranged into bossa nova and lounge music styles, with some ending up completely different from their original versions. While this makes every song easy-listening and casual, the signature Smallroom style remains intact.
The pop rock hit “Aod Aodd” by The Richman Toy is presented as a bossa nova song with jazz guitar. Tattoo Colour’s fast track “Ko Hok (Lie)” is also transformed into a mid-tempo bossa nova. Another notable song is “Oxygen” by Superbaker, which in this version is even more easy-listening than the original, with added background vocals and acoustic guitars.
Fans of Smallroom releases and people love to chill out with easy-listening pop and bossa nova music are bound to enjoy A Room on the Hill. —VH
