Provider. More experienced members act as providers by contributing new resources – knowledge,
information, statistics, data, or well analysed arguments (see black arrow in Figure 1) – to the
overall resources of the community. Providers are generally more experienced members (both long
time members and newbie members) who are able to make use of the resources they bring to the
community to embed themselves firmly within it. Of course, some TIA members place a higher
value on the quality of the contributions made by other members to the community rather than how
long they have been members.
