Often referred to as the "world's biggest water fight," Songkran marks the traditional Thai New Year and is celebrated from April 13 to 15.
The throwing of water originated as a way to pay respect to family members and elders, a symbol of cleansing and purification.
Over the years it's evolved into the massive water fight that dominates streets all over the country.
This year's celebration goes ahead despite the drought gripping parts of Southeast Asia.
