1. Before living things die, some individuals produce new ones of their own kind. This is called reproduction.
2. The process of producing new plants from seeds involves both male and female cells. This method of reproduction is known as sexual reproduction.
3. Flowering plants can reproduce from seeds. The flowers in flowering plants contain the parts fro reproduction.
4. A general flower consists of four different parts-sepals, petals, stamen and pistil.
5. The pistil consists of a stigma, the style and an ovary. Inside the ovary are the ovules, each of which contains a female reproductive cell-the egg.
6. The stamen is made up of the filament and anther. The anther contains pollen sacs, each of which carries many male reproductive cells-the pollen. The function of the pollen is to fertilise the egg.
