not without portrait slip through checks
the 1,000 bath banknote without His Majesty the King,s portrait, which was obtained by a bank customer from an ATM, was produced two years ago by the central bank,s note printing works, according to Bandid Nijathaworn, spokesman for the Bank of Thailand.
Normally, every banknote produced would be carefully checked both by printer operators and screening machines. Each printing plate can produce 28 banknotes. After an investigation, two other banknotes with the same defect were also found.
The case was the first of its kind, said Mr.Bandit. Owners of the banknotes could use them to pay for goods and services. They could also keep them or exchange them for new ones with the central bank.
