Extracts prepared from mangosteen fruit pericarp in methanol and
water exhibited potent, concentration-dependent antimicrobial
activity againstGram-positive bacteria.Hence this wastematerial is
a potential feedstock for the production of natural antimicrobials.
Bacteriostatic and bactericidal activity was stronger in extracts
prepared in methanol than in water. Chemical analysis indicated
that higher tartaric acid ester and flavonol content in methanol
extracts was associated with stronger antimicrobial effects. The
