A completely randomized design with factorial arrangement 24
was utilized. The factors were starch source (cassava and potato),
starch concentration (0.5 and 1%), type of plasticizer (glucose and
glycerol), chain length of the surfactant's hydrophobic tail (12 and
18 carbons) and stirring time (mechanical treatment) for either 0.5
or 4 min at 11,000 rpm. The variables to be determined were film
opacity, film thickness, tensile strength, water vapor permeability
(WVP), elasticity and film solubility. All measurements were performed
at triplicate. ANOVA and Tukey test with a significance level
of 5% were run using InfoStat statistics software
