Employees can easily recognize that mappers and team members alike are
proactively listening when Current State Map presentations evolve into a brainstorming session on problems. Although this alone is extremely powerful,
it is not the sole purpose of the session. Many beneficial observations come out
of these sessions. Perhaps the most important outcome is not what is said, but
what is observed. When you begin to watch the participants in a brainstorming
session, other opportunities present themselves. This is the perfect time to start
identifying future project team members. The intensity and passion that some
employees exhibit during these sessions allows you to scout out future project
team members and perhaps even future Value Stream Mappers.
