Industrial processing of natural resources results in
conversion to the end product of only insignificant
proportion (in selected cases, 1.5–2%) of raw materials,
whose major part undergoes various modifications and
is run to waste, most of which is stored in specially
allotted sites. Waste storage leads to alienation and
disturbance of the fertility of large land areas whose
reclamation does not provide timely reintroduction into
commercial activities [1].
