The fluxes observed at 5 C by Dinuccio et al. (2008) from untreated pig slurry are more than ten times higher than those reported by the P_UN. For the pig effluents, the peak emission rate occurred between the second and third week (maximum fluxes: 15–18 mg CH4m2 h1). The highest average flux over the storage period was from the P_UN, (7.8 mg m2 h1). For the C digestate, there was no CH4 emission from C_SF, while C_UN and C_LF showed similar emission patterns with a slight increment during the last weeks.
