Although the on-farm storage tanks of the treatment scenario
are smaller than those in the transfer scenario, the former scenario
consumes more material resources, as the treatment station
requires extra concrete and plastics. The transfer scenario
consumes more diesel for transport of slurry than does the treatment
scenario for the transport of slurry and of compost. However,
the centrifugation of slurry and the aeration process of the treatment
station is carried out with electric power, increasing the
overall energetic consumption of the treatment scenario.
