This article aims to define the role and position of IT within a strategic
buyer–supplier relationship. According to the findings of the empirical
study, IT was located in the structural layer of the relationship. IT
was an element in the buyer or supplier organizational structure, from
where it was brought to the technical setting of the buyer–supplier relationship.
As a component of the structural layer, IT provided support
to the action layer of the relationship. IT can form a strong element
