To organize your resume you will need to transform your ‘can do’ skills from the
previous section into ‘have done’ skills. These are specific examples of what you
could do for a company if you were hired.
Directions: Create your own list of 10 Skills you have and where you have
used the skill.
Use your list of ‘-ing’ skills to create a list of ‘-ed’ skills with specific instances of
how and when you have applied your abilities and knowledge with actual results.
Remember you cannot repeat the same action verbs
Example:
1. Planning club activities - “Planned and led the CMU International Club’s
2. Creating business plans: Created a business plan for herbal body lotion in 2nd
Semester Business Correspondence Course.
3. Organizing a team: Organized a team of 4 people to create a marketing
campaign for herbal body lotion. I was the leader to delegate the work load and to
ensure work was completed on time.
4. Team member of Softball Club: Participated in Sports Day softball tournament.
State the position you played: shortstop, catcher, left field, etc..
You must change some of your hobbies to sound more interesting, for
example:
Reading comic books change to Studying Korean History
Playing computer games change to Searching for current events on the Internet
