SUMMARY
A ritual is a predictable, prearranged activity. Good rituals meet five criteria: (1)they solve a recurring problem, (2) they include and engage everyone, 3) they are simple and easy to do, (4) they are highly predictable, a (5) they put students in a positive emotional st e. The benefits of rituals are powerful indeed. They relieve some work by automating certain types of problem solving, and they create community and manage stress levels. Every teacher can use rituals.
