A middle-level trough will advance eastward from the upper MS valley to the Atlantic coast as a broad upstream ridge builds over The Rockies and Great Plains. As this occurs...a surface anticyclone will build eastward towards the lower MS valley...in the wake of a cold front progressing southward across the Gulf of Mexico and the Florida Peninsula. Later in the period...a weak upper impulse is forecast to approach far West Texas...and may support the development of showers across the region...but instability will remain limited.
South Florida... Heating within a moist air mass in place across South Florida should support isolated thunderstorm development this afternoon ahead of a southward moving cold front. While some locally gusty winds are possible with the stronger convection...meager deep-layer shear and weak forcing for ascent will mitigate any organized severe threat.
