I have 2 lens which have oil on the aperture blades which need a clean. They are both manual focus units. One is a Canon FL 58 1.2, the other is a Nikon 50 1.4 ai-s. The Nikon has a screw in the barrel which needs replacement, as I've stripped it trying to remove it (must invest in some better jewelers screwdrivers). This screw will need to be removed inorder to open up the lens to clean it.
I'd like both of these lenses to be CLA'd. They will both need the helical grease to be removed and replaced by a modern type. Both of these lenses have a reputation for having the grease leak onto the aperture mechanism in hot weather, as they used old 60's-70's grease which turns to liquid. The modern helical grease is more heat resistant. Could you ask him what grease he uses? If necessary I have some of this grease which I can bring with me to be used on these lenses.
