Data Synthesis Review Manager software version 5.1 (Cochrane Collaboration) was used formeta-analyses.Bodymass index (BMI; calculated as weight in kilograms divided by height in meters squared) was the primary anthropometric outcome, and secondary outcomeswere body fat percentage (%BF) and lean body mass (LBM). Metabolic outcomes were levels of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), triglycerides, fasting glucose, and fasting insulin. Intervention duration varied from 6 weeks to 6 months. About half (n = 7) followed up participants after the completion of active intervention however, only 1 study followed upparticipants longer than 1 year from baseline.
