In groups of 4, create a video clip of 5-6 minutes. You must compose a story which every member plays a role(s) and equally speaks English. Include four of the following language functions (learnt from Unit 1-3) in your story.
• Describing an event, festival or celebration (1b: page 8-9)
• Inviting, accepting and declining (1d: page 12)
• Giving directions & describing the location (2a: page 19)
• A job interview (2d: page 24)
• Describing an invention (3a: page 31)
• Asking how something works (3d: page 36)
The purpose of the task is to present your English skills, so spend most time of the clip to videotape conversation and avoid a scene with little or no dialogue.
You will do the following procedures:
1. Study a) the Instruction, b) the samples of plot and script and c) grading criteria at http://elearning.cmu.ac.th. Arrange groups of 4.
2. Outside class, fill out handouts explaining the plot of the video, the role of each member play, and what language functions and in which part of the plot they will be used. Adjust the plot according to the teacher’s comments.
3. In class, write a complete script of appropriate length. Lines for each member should be equally distributed. Adjust the script according to the teacher’s comments.
4. Film your video. Do not put a lot of time and effort on production but instead concentrate on using correct language and pronunciation with a clear, loud voice. Subtitles both in Thai and English are not allowed. You should spend most time of the clip to videotape conversation and avoid a scene with little or no dialogue.
5. Submit a CD recording and present the video clip to class.
