Carbonaceous biochemical oxygen demand within the inlet
and outlet of the fluidized sand biofilters was 6.9 ± 0.7 and
6.4 ± 1.0 mg/L, respectively for the GB diet; compared to 4.0 ± 0.6
and 3.4 ± 0.6 mg/L, respectively for the FM diet (Table 7). Resulting
BOD removal efficiencies across the fluidized sand biofilters for
the GB and FM diets were 7.7 ± 5.7 and 14.9 ± 4.5%, respectively
(P > 0.05) (Table 7).
