An intelligent tutoring system (ITS) is any computer system
that provides direct customized instruction or feedback to
students, i.e. without the intervention of human beings, whilst
performing a task. ITS typically consist of four modules: the
Expert Module, which comprises of facts and rules of the
particular domain to be conveyed to the student; the Tutoring
Module, which designs and regulates instructional interactions
with the students; the Student Module, which is a dynamic
representation of the students current state of knowledge; and
the User Interface, which controls interaction between the
student and the system.
