The first principal component, which is the axis that
explains the most variance, not surprisingly corresponds
to the same main division. The second principal component
starts to subdivide the taurine animals (Additional
file 1: Figure S1B and C). This subdivision of taurine animals
was also seen in four independent runs of principal
components analyses that used the same number of individuals
per breed and different random combinations
of taurine breeds in addition to the three zebu breeds
(Additional file 2: Figure S2). This agrees with the lower
pair-wise FST observed between zebu breeds in comparison
to taurine breeds (Additional file 3: Table S1).
