All of us have phobias. Some of us are scared of the dark, and some of us are scared of enclosed spaces. Some of us fear heights, and some of us are terrified of spiders. Some of us developed these phobias because of an event while some of us developed these phobias because of an association. Phobias are defined as irrational fears, and while this definition is true to a degree, there is an understanding of why we are scared of certain things. These understandings fall into two categories: classical conditioning and operant conditioning.
