It is for this reason that, including in the analysis the results obtained for all the boilers tested, the optimal value of the stoichiometric ratio at the exit of the boiler, ∝_b has been determined to range from 1.5 to 1.55, which allows for a full coverage of the whole range of steam powers. It should also be noted that, prior to this experimental research, engineers and boiler operators used to run the boilers at higher stoichiometric ratio values at the exit of the boiler, even exceeding 1.8, losing a large amount of thermal energy resulting in a lower efficiency.
