tion of NaCl for different fixed STPP concentrations. It can
be seen that the incorporation of 1.40% NaCl, in the absence
of STPP, produced a 70%-reduction of CL (from
10% without NaCl to 3%). Similarly, STPP alone (y-axis)
produced an important reduction of CL; this parameter
was decreased almost 40% when 0.25% or 0.50% STPP
was added in comparison to the control (non-injected).
The reduction of CL was maxima when 1.20% of NaCl
was added disregarding of the STPP concentrations used.
Further increments of NaCl (1.40%) did not produce additional
reduction. A similar CL reduction curve was observed
for 0.25% and 0.50% of STPP. The overall view
indicated that the individual effect of the salts was enhanced
by the use of both salts together. Under these conditions,
CL was reduced to approximately 0% and even a
weight gain of around 1% was obtained (due to the mass
injected).
