In time, the material loses its mechanical rigidity and becomes fragile. The dielectric rigidity in the aging process does not change significantly and it practically remains at the initial values. The insulation degradation occurs due to the loss of mechanical rigidity and to the perturbation of its integrity as result of mechanical actions at short-circuits. By taking on rests of accelerated aging there is established the insulation life.
