Materials and Methods
This prospective cohort study was conducted at a tertiary
referral hospital in Sydney between February 2008 and
April 2009. The risk factor was fetal OP position within
30 minutes of full cervical dilatation, and the primary
outcome was operative delivery, defined as vacuum,
forceps or caesarean section.
Women were recruited between 35 and 41 weeks
gestation by midwives and medical staff in the antenatal
clinic or on admission to hospital prior to labour, and
