Thirty-three of the 53 samples qualitatively tested positive for
B. cytotoxicus in enrichment culture were subsequently analysed
quantitatively. In 26 of these samples, no contamination above the
detection limit of the quantitative method (100 cfu/g) could be
observed. In four samples, B. cytotoxicus was found in a concentration
of 100 cfu/g (one sample of potato dumplings (Schupfnudeln), two
powders for potato dumplings, one powder for mashed potatoes),
200 cfu/g were detected in two samples (powder for mashed potatoes,
cooked mashed potatoes) and 300 cfu/g in one sample (instant soup).
These findings are in accordance with the concentrations that were
found for B. cereus in dehydrated potato products
