To determine the positions of load carriers the project draw on the currently most used
positioning technology NAVSTAR-GPS (GPS). The project solution already regards the upcoming
European satellite navigation system Galileo, which will be more accurate. Both systems detect their
position by measuring the duration, which the signals need for the distance between satellites and
receiver. For the determination of one position at least four satellites are required: three for
determining the space coordinate, a fourth for calculating the correction term (based on a comparison
of clock times between transmitter and receiver). The accuracy of measurement can be a few meters
(Köhne, 2009).
