During the Songkran Festival, people enjoy themselves very much. We have a very good time in throwing water to the other such as our neighbors and some people in the community. In the morning, we wear beautiful thai customers or dresses to the temple and during the ceremony. Next, we bring some necessary things to the temple such as food, flower ,candles, scented sticks and money to use for the activities at the temple. We pour water on the image Buddha, monks-bathing, and listening to sermon. After that, we visit our relatives for paying respect to the elders and give them present. Next, we use a big bowl and a small one for pouring water or thai fragrance on their hands. Finally, we give the wishes to them and they’ll give the blesses to us in return. These activities help increase a relationship between the young and the old very well.
Since the festival is Thai long holiday, many families love to visit their relatives upcountry. They pay respect to their ancestors and also to the elders. People from all part of the country flock there to enjoy the water festival, to watch the Miss Songkran Contest and the beautiful parades. Most people will drive their car on the road for throwing water with other people they pass here and there on the street. After Songkran Dad the end most people go back they home and start they work again. They really have a very good time which they’ll forget it.
This Thai traditional New Year is the most celebrated festival in Thailand. It is enjoyed for people of all ages. However, in my opinion we would like to tell the teenagers not to behave in the wrong ways which will destroy themselves. There may be some danger if they are careless.
