During the 1990s and early 2000s, some scholars began publishing new books showing their enduring commitment to the field of CPA. Some see CPA as the study of bureaucracies and show a strong political science influence. They are the followers of the old CPA, which focuses on the role of the bureaucracy in political development (Farazmand 2001; Tummala 2003; Jreisat 2002).
