BANGKOK, 31 July 2012: The Tourism Authority of Thailand is promoting 10 travel routes that follow in the footsteps of HM the Queen to explore royal projects she initiated.
The promotion marks HM the Queen’s 80th birthday, 12 August, and is directed at the domestic travel market.
Tagged Duay Proh Rak (Because of Love..), TAT aims to educate Thai people about the Queen’s lifelong efforts to improve the livelihood of rural communities .
All 10 routes will be featured on a mini page of TAT, http://queenprojects.tourismthailand.org/index.php, that outlines the routes and offers tips on accommodation, attractions and restaurants.
The 10 routes are:
• Rak Phan Tao Talay (preservation of sea turtles) –Sea Turtle Conservation Center, Royal Thai Navy in Sattahip, Chonburi province. Here visitors can enjoy watching sea turtles and learning their life cycle from exhibition with staff who will give more information;
• Kuen Roy Yim Lhang Nam Lod (giving smiles back after the flood) – a model farm that supports Ban Bang Sadet Court Doll Centre in Angthong province;
• Sarng Ban Lek Nai Pah Yai (building small houses in a big forest) – the Queen Sirikit Forest Park at Suan Phueng in Ratchaburi province is a beautiful natural attraction and is close to Bo Whee Model farm open to visitors;
• Rak Ruam Thai (loves Ruam Thai) – The Ruam Thai village in Pang Ung, Mae Hong Son province where tourists can enjoy homestay or camp near the lake;
• Suan Suay Dok Mai Suay (beautiful garden, beautiful flowers) – the Queen Sirikit Botanical Gardens in Mae Rim, Chiang Mai province covers an area of 1,040 hectares with over 350 orchard species;
• Plik Fuen Kuen Cheewit Pah Chailain (revive the mangrove forest) – the Centre for learning mangrove eco-systems;
• Jak Fhee Mue Chao Ban Su Wichitsin Khong Chat (from local handicraft to national fine arts) – the Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles and the Art of the Kingdom Museum at the Anada Samakhom Throne Hall in Bangkok;
• Rak Pah Rak Nam (love the water love he forest) – the Pah Rak Nam project (forest loves water) at Song Dao district in Sakon Nakhon province focuses on reviving forest.Visitors can start the tour from Phu Pha Lek National Park in Song Dao district, around 80 km from Sakon Nakhon town.
• Plik Puentee Siengpai Su Chumchon Haujai Porpieng (Turn red zone to sustainable community) – the Sufficiency Economy Village and a model farm in Narathiwat town was an initiative of Her Majesty the Queen during her visit in 2004;
• Silapa Thai Sang Archeep (Thai arts create jobs) – the Ban Sompornrat Arts and Crafts Centre at Buntarik district in Ubon Ratchathani assists famers to hone skills in weaving silk.
