Fermentability test
The microorganism used in this study was Actinobacillus succinogenes 130Z, which was purchased from DSMZ - German Collection of Microorganisms and Cell Cultures GmbH, Inhoffenstraβe 7B, 38124 Braunschweig, Germany. The stock culture was maintained in Brain Heart Infusion (BHI) media, Difco laboratories. For succinic acid production, the mineral media consisted of: 0.2 g MgCl2.6H2O; 0.2 g CaCl2; 3 g KH2PO4 and 1 g NaCl per liter of medium. Raw OPF juice was used as sole carbon source in this study.
