Immanuel Kant believed that “moral rules can in principle be known as a result of
reason alone and are not based on observation” (Shaw, 2008 p. 56). His philosophy
was that moral rules can be established through rational thought that cannot be
contradicted under any circumstances. Kant’s theory states that an action is only ethical
if the persons involved are willing to change sides. Kant believed that reason is the best
path to find the truth
