This research note reports the findings of an exploratory study,
which identifies independent variables that increase the probability
of international tourists to visit a remote destination in
Australia. Based on a comprehensive literature review, five categories were identified which may impact on destination
choice: socio-demographics, motivation to travel, time frame of
holiday, destination familiarity and date of travel (Table 1), with
twelve hypotheses developed (Table 3). The findings of this study
provide remote enterprises with a useful insight into potential
target markets.
