The introduction of woodpulp fibers in PU foam insulation did
not significantly alter its mechanical resistance. However, wood
fiber offered PU foam an excellent deformation resistance within
the limits of 6% deformation and a small decrease of thermal
stability, which offered the composite foam with desirable environmental
impact after disposal without affecting its application in
construction insulation. Moreover, the composite foam had larger
regular cells as well as higher foam density due to pulp fibers
embedding in foam matrix.
