With regard to capacity building, it is important the information professionals
are trained to appreciate the needs of students living with visual
impairments and also be familiar with the diversity of information
resources in different formats for such users. Furthermore, the curriculum
of LIS should address the information needs and information resources
for people living with visual impairments. University libraries
should provide tailor made user education programmes that are suited
to people living with disabilities and readers who provide support to
them. The user education should also include components on training
students living with visual impairments on how to use the assistive
technologies in the library.
