Freewriting means writing your ideas on a topic for 10-15 minutes. The purpose of
freewriting is to help you overcome writer’s block so that your ideas can flow more freely.
Therefore, you don’t need to worry about grammar or any matters of correctness. If you run
out of ideas, write the previous words or sentences repeatedly. Or you may write “I can’t
think of anything” until something comes to you. The point is to get down as much as you can
about the topic, no matter how disorganized.
Below is an example of a freewriting on the topic “computers.” Notice that there are some
errors—grammatical and spelling—in this freewriting. Keep in mind, accuracy is not a
concern in freewriting.
We can’t deny the fact that computers are so very important in our
lives. Look everywhere, we see computers: bank, workplace,
library, coffee shop, especially in our schools. We write with
computers. We do a presentations with computers. The good thing
about this it really save time we can write and explore ideas and
revise our paper right away. If we want to change or add new
ideas we can just type in. Very convinience. Moreover you can
google inf. at the same time. I mean you can use the internet to
search info for your writing and presentation at the same time so
you can see that learning is more fun when you use computers.
