Althoug the HRM and payroll systems have traditionally been separated, many com-
panies, including AOE, are trying to integrate them to manage their human resources
more effectively and to provide employees with better benefits and service.Elizabeth

integrating these two functions. Peter was impressed with how easily he could retrieve
data about employee skills and attendance at training classes from this database. He
agreed that this would satisfy the needs of department managers for quick and easy
