We have shown analytically that stability in the mean square, which is equivalent to energetic stability, coincides with thermodynamic stability for Gaussian white noise and Poisson white noise. This is an unexpected result, because thermodynamic stability does not depend solely on the mean square values of the position and the velocity. As mentioned above, it is also affected by the cross correlation between the velocity and the noise.This poses the interest in go pen problem of delineating the family of noises for which energetic and thermodynamic stability coincide.
